Two new Snapdragon SoCs have been introduced by Qualcomm under the Snapdragon 6 and Snapdragon 4 series, respectively, targeting mid-range and low-cost smartphones. The new naming scheme from Qualcomm, which was introduced with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 last year, is also used for the recently released SoCs. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 are the names of the latest chipsets.

The two new mobile chipsets are designed to provide cutting-edge technological solutions for the mass-market and mid-tier markets. While smartphones with Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 will debut as early as next week in India from iQOO, smartphones with Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 will be available in Q1 2023. Let’s examine the new Snapdragon 5G SoCs in more depth.

Features of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1

The Qualcomm Kryo CPU in the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1’s octa-core SoC has a top clock speed of 2.2GHz. A 4nm node serves as the foundation for this chipset. Due to its capability for both Sub-6 and mmWave communication, the chipset provides full worldwide 5G. For comprehensive 5G coverage, it also supports TDD, FDD, and dynamic spectrum sharing. According to Qualcomm, the processor provides a 35% improvement over the last version. Adreno GPU is paired with Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, which is supposed to increase performance by up to 30% over the previous generation. The business hasn’t yet revealed the whole GPU name, though.
