MicroLED face rumoured for Apple Watch in 2025

According to a fresh supply chain leak, Apple will launch a MicroLED-display Apple Watch in the spring of 2025. OLED is now used by the Apple Watch to create its flawless edge-to-edge black appearance. Display supply chain analyst Ross Young claims in a tweet shared with his devoted followers that Apple would incorporate MicroLED in the Apple Watch with a launch in the spring of 2025. The display technology would offer a better pixel density on the small display and is an improvement over OLED.

MicroLED has better brightness and crispness than OLED, which are its advantages. While both technologies are capable of near-infinite contrast and extreme local dimming, the MicroLED panel will have significantly greater control over the projected information.

Sharper lettering, sunnier displays, and a lower risk of burn-in are all advantages for Apple Watch owners. Ross Young’s proposed announcement date seems strange, even though Apple might be interested in utilising this more sophisticated display technology. Apple typically releases Apple Watch updates in the fall, but since 2023 is anticipated to be a down year for updates, this practise may change.
