Kerala Congress today said its candidate A P Anil Kumar is sure to win the by-election to the Thrikkakara Assembly constituency. May 28. Party leader Ramesh Chennithala made these comments after the counting of votes officially ended in the EVM-equipped Vehapuzha Vidya Bhavan at Vaduthala near here.
The CPM feels that the battle for Thrikkakara is over. “We have taken it much too lightly and our campaign will be intensified,” says Akhilesh Das, of the district committee. The five leading contenders are: Umesh Babu (LDF), CPI state committee member and their sitting MLA, who is pitching to retain his seat against the Congress veteran, Jose Thettayil. Jose Thettayil (UDF), former PCC President who has been in politics for 34 years now, having a decisive role in launching the party in the state. Rajan Babu (BJP); Rony Thomas (Aam Admi); and Anna Baby (independent).
The Kerala Congress has confirmed it will be contesting the upcoming by-election in Thrikkakara. Where former India cricket captain and Congress MP Sachin Tendulkar will be seeking re-election as MLA of Kerala’s legislative assembly. In an interview with local media, senior party leader TG Gopi said he was confident of victory and that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not have the slightest chance against us in this seat. The Thrikkakara by-election will be held on May 24th, 2017.
Kerala Congress President Mullappally Ramachandran said. He was extremely confident of the party winning the upcoming by-election in Thrikkakara Constituency, scheduled to be held on June 27, 2017. He was addressing the media after presiding over a campaign meeting of the party’s candidate, Thomas Chandy, at the Panchayat Headquarters in the constituency on Monday.
