The company’s Google Pay brand is launching a Soundpod device similar to those offered by other brands such as Paytm and PhonePe. Follow For More Updates at satiknews.com
Google Pay, Paytm, and PhonePe are three popular UPI payment apps in India. Aside from the Search Engine giant, the two other companies provided merchants with a Soundpod that provided audio feedback on payments received on their accounts. Now, it appears that Google Pay is also working on a device with an in-built speaker and an LCD panel to notify users when payments are successful.
This device will also support multiple languages. As of now, the company is reportedly offering this device for free to a select group of merchants. To put it another way, the device is still being tested on a small scale, with merchants receiving free soundboxes. Alternative platforms such as Paytm, PhonePe, and BharatPe already provide such devices, so it’s no surprise that Google Pay is developing its own version of this soundpod.
According to sources close to the situation, Google has already begun distributing the new devices to retailers in North India, including the capital city of New Delhi. The LCD panel will display the payment amount, battery, network status, and manual controls in addition to the audio announcement for successful payments.
