The Consumer Electronics Show, or CES, is the largest technology trade show of the year, and it begins in the first week of January. The show, which is held in Las Vegas, sets the tone for the rest of the year with new launches, announcements, and trends ranging from the most recent laptop designs to some outlandish product categories.
This year, even before the start of CES 2023, brands have begun to make announcements on the sidelines. Intel unveiled its new 13th Generation Raptor Lake mobile processors, including the Core i9 13980HX, which Intel claims is the fastest mobile processor in the world. New CPUs are accompanied by brand new laptops. While CES officially begins on January 5, ASUS, Acer, Dell, and others have already announced a number of laptops. ASUS intends to release a slew of new gaming laptop refreshes, but the showpiece will be an 18-inch behemoth. The ROG Strix G18 and ROG Strix Scar 18 have 18-inch Dolby Vision HDR displays with refresh rates of up to 240Hz. Asus will employ the most recent Intel processors and Nvidia GPUs. So far, no AMD-based configuration has been announced.
Along with these, ASUS is releasing updated 16-inch Strix G and Strix Scar models with similar specs to the larger models. However, AMD models such as the 17-inch Strix G and Strix Scar series are available.
Asus is also releasing the latest hybrid gaming laptops in the Flow series. The Flow X13, X16, and Z13 are getting annual updates with the most recent AMD processors and Nvidia GPUs. These are two-in-one displays that also support Asus’ proprietary external GPUs for cutting-edge gaming performance. The most recent Flow series updates include larger batteries, which address a major complaint from last year.
The latest trend at the trade show is 18-inch laptops, with Dell Alienware also jumping on board. In fact, Alienware is retiring its 15- and 17-inch laptops in favour of new 16- and 18-inch models for 2023. Alienware’s new laptops are classified as M and X-series.

Furthermore, the Alienware X16 is the company’s latest flagship 16-inch offering, with a 16:10 QHD display and Intel 13th Gen processors and RTX 4090.

Nvidia RTX 40-series GPUs power the latest Predator laptops. The Helios 16 has a QHD Plus display with a refresh rate of 165Hz, while the Helios 18 has an FHD Plus display with a refresh rate of 165Hz.
