The Cupertino-based company is experienced in handling patent issues. However, the most recent legal dispute has begun against the iPhone manufacturer and may even result in the US banning the Apple Watch Series 6 and newer models. Masimo, a company that sells medical-grade equipment, has filed a lawsuit against the business. The new lawsuit accuses Apple of damaging five of the company’s pulse oximeters, which are utilised in the blood oxygen monitoring function of the Watch on Watch Series 6 and later models.

A US International Trade Commission (ITC) judge recently determined that Apple did violate one of Masimo’s pulse oximeter patents. In other words, the corporation wasn’t responsible for violating the other four patents. The US ITC will now decide whether to forbid the import of Apple Watch models that can check the users’ blood oxygen levels. We are pleased that the judge acknowledged Apple’s violation of Masimo’s pulse oximetry technology and took this crucial first step toward accountability, says Masimo CEO Joe Kiani. The top official went on to say, “Today’s decision should assist in restoring market fairness. We think that today’s decision exposes Apple as a firm that steals and repackages the innovations of other businesses since it has similarly violated other businesses’ intellectual property. Apple’s response was, “We respectfully disagree with today’s judgement and look forward to a comprehensive review by the Commission,” on the other hand.
